Just a quick note to compliment you on the Mantis 2 tent – I used it recently at a fairly high elevation with wet snow overnight and it held up really well. Then just last week I hiked with a friend and we used his (more expensive) tent, the difference was really noticeable, as we again had wet snow and the tent did not handle it well. Given the much larger dimensions of the Mantis in every aspect, I am happy to pack an extra few pounds. You have created a very good tent at an extremely reasonable price point.

Mantis Pole Design
All Mantis tents come with the unique Mantis Aluminum Pole System. You don’t have to worry about separate poles, clips, and sleeves. This “one-piece” pole system uses shock corded sections and 3 strategic hubs that allow for a simple and quick set up. Clipping the tent body into place could not be easier.

This freestanding pole system allows Mantis tents to be set up anywhere. The tents have the ultimate in headroom and livable space, thanks to the ridge pole which give the doors a near vertical drop, and the functional geometry of the overall pole design. The poles are aluminum with locking tips, so you know they will be lightweight and strong, able to withstand your 3 season adventures.

70D Durable Polyester Floors
Our tents floors made with 70D polyester fabric are coated with a PU waterproof coating and factory seam taped. These floors are more durable than PE tarp floors, with a much longer life, and more able to resist damage from rocks, twigs, roots, and general use. And unlike PE tarp floor they are quiet to sleep on. They cost a bit more, but if you want a better tent, this is what you want.
polyester vs nylon
Polyester fabric has advantages over nylon when used as a tent rainfly. Polyester is more UV resistant, so exposure to the sun’s rays will not degrade the fabric as quickly as nylon. Also, polyester does not stretch when dealing with water and rain. This allows the entire tent to maintain its proper shape, thereby continuing to protect you from further rain and wind.
Poly Weatherproof
The polyester rainfly and floor have a PU coating to keep the water out. For example, with a 1500mm coating, the fabric can withstand a 1500mm column of water for more than one minute before a drop might work its way through this fabric. That is good enough to stop rain in most hurricane storms.
